Elementary School New Student Registration

New Students In Grades 1st Through 6th

Welcome to Basin Elementary!  We are eager to meet our new students and their families.  We encourage you to learn more about our school as you explore the other pages on our website. We have rigorous academic standards and believe in developing leadership skills within each student.  We are a STEM Designated school and have infused STEM activities across the content areas.  Additionally, students attend weekly STEM lab classes where students learn to 3D print, use virtual reality technology, code and use the engineering design process.  We value collaboration and purposefully engage students and their parents in our school planning and programming. We look forward to meeting you soon!  Please use the link below to begin the registration process. After we receive your survey responses, we will be in contact with you regarding additional paperwork and enrollment requirements.

Preschool

4 Year Old Program - Must be 4 years old before September 1, 2024.

3 Year Old Program - Must qualify for special education and start after his/her 3rd birthday.

If this is your first time enrolling a child at Basin, we would like to extend a warm welcome! The Basin Elementary Preschool will begin its 26th year in the Fall of 2024, and we are excited to have a new group of students join the Basin family!  Basin's preschool program is one of the few public preschool programs that is open to ALL 4 year olds that live within the school district's boundaries. We also serve 3 year old students that are eligible for special education services. Our program has been very successful in preparing our students for kindergarten and beyond, and we have served as a model program for other preschools around the state.

Four-year-old students attend three full days a week and are immersed in an experiential program rich in literacy, numeracy, and STEM activities.   Our curriculum and activities address learning in the nine domains of development and learning, including:  social emotional, physical, language, cognitive, literacy, mathematics, science and technology, social studies and the arts.

Our preschoolers can ride the bus to and from school as well as participate in our breakfast and lunch programs.  Our program is funded by our local school district supplemental levy, the district, and grant funding.  Our goal is for all students in our district to participate.

Special Note Regarding 3 Year Olds

If you have a three year old that is eligible for services through the Department of Health and Welfare's Infant Toddler program, indicate so on your registration survey.  Also, if you have concerns about your 3 year old's development in speech/language, motor skills, social skills, or behavior, but he/she is not currently part of the Department of Health and Welfare's Infant Toddler Program, please contact us with your concerns and we will follow up with you in regards to whether or not your child might be eligible to start preschool at 3 years old. Please contact Principal, Jamie Pilkerton at jpilkerton@basinschools.net or by phone at 208-392-6631 ext. 1222.

Kindergarten

Must be 5 years old before September 1, 2024

If you are new to enrolling a child at Basin, welcome to our school community! Our kindergarten program is a full day, five day a week program. In addition to instruction in the core content areas of reading, writing, mathematics, social studies and science, our students also participate in weekly specials classes including: physical education, music, art, and STEM. Our five day a week program allows us to provide differentiated instruction for our students.

Kindergarten is an exciting year to watch students grow both academically and socially. By the end of kindergarten, your child will be reading and able to do simple mathematical computations! Most importantly, we hope that your child is enjoying school and has further developed the critical learner qualities of being a cooperative, respectful and responsible student.

Many families have found it helpful to review the kindergarten readiness skills throughout the summer. If you find that your child is struggling with any of the skills, there are activities included. You are also welcome to contact us at any time for additional resources or any questions that you may have.
