Welcome to the Basin School District 72

The Basin School District is located in the rural historic mining town of Idaho City, Id approximately 45 minutes up the Ponderosa Scenic Highway from Boise, Id.  The district includes daycare, preschool, Basin Elementary School, Idaho City Middle and High School, as well the Idaho Center for Outdoor Education.

The district is located in the middle of the historic town on top of gold dredgings from 1864 surrounded by the Boise National Forest.  Idaho City is a place where your student will have more opportunities for leadership roles due to the small population, approximately 160 students in grades 7-12 and 175 students in grades preK-6.  Students will also have an opportunity to experience various outdoor education on our 86 acres of forest just one-half mile from the school.  The Basin School District has partnered with the Winter Wildlands Alliance Snow School, NASA snow survey and lightning detection projects, Boise State Fire Science, Boise State Rural STEM, and the STEM Action Center just to name a few.

Come see all the district has to offer students.  Schedule a tour or talk with our administrators, counselor, teacher or other staff members.
